I was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. I attended Texas Tech, but ultimately ended up at TCU where I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts.
My art is usually directed by my interests, my questions, fond memories, or just plain fun. I find beauty in the discarded, wondering about untold stories, creating them in my head and constantly daydreaming.
I utilize a mixed medium that incorporates acrylics and vintage images, stamps, old magazines, sheet music, hymnals, bibles, hand written letters, recipes, candy wrappers, labels, books, well, almost anything really. My intention is to build up texture, depth and nuances that require study of the piece. I like for my art to conjure up good feelings or happy memories. I love the element of surprise when someone sees something in a piece that they didn't see upon first viewing. Depending on the project and time limitations, my art usually sits in my studio for a while before I put it "out there". I let marks, spills, and scratches happen. I drip and splatter paint, sometimes covering up parts, and sometimes wiping them away and later even sanding them away, excited to see what re-emerges. Once I am inspired to do a painting, or series, I begin, but not always having a clear picture of the final image, because as I go, sometimes it takes on a direction of its own.
