Joel Favor - Wastella

Wastella is the name given to the musical instruments and related items built by me, Joel Favor. I build my instruments from abandoned, recycled and reclaimed material. Most of my wood comes from above the rafters in forgotten sheds or milled from salvaged logs. I am always looking for old metal objects that become the bodies of my ukuleles and other instruments. This is a grassroots affair, as well as a labor of love with all of the work being done in my 10x10 workshop with antiquated tools.
The name Wastella is taken from a ghost town in Nolan County, Texas. It also pay homage to Stella instruments which were an inexpensive choice for blues and folk musicians prior to World War II. Waste plus Stella sums up my builds quite succiently. Forgotten objects and a simple musical ethos is what Wastellla is all about.
