Memories in the Making is the Alzheimer's Association art program for people with dementia. Bypassing the need for knowing, remembering or learning new skills, Memories in the Making enables people with severe memory loss to express themselves with watercolor paint. Those in the early stages of the disease may paint picturse of things they like and tell stories about their lives while those in the later stages may create enigmatic abstractions with poetic titles. The original framed watercolor paintings by residents of area dementia care communities offer a window on to the world of living with memory loss.
